January represents fresh starts and new goals. Think about it—you or someone you know has likely set New Year’s resolutions to improve health, productivity, or overall quality of life. Your customers are no different.
This time of year, people are motivated to invest in themselves, try new products, and commit to positive changes. As a business owner, you can position your product as the perfect solution to their goals. Whether you’re selling skincare, fitness equipment, handmade crafts, or stationery, there’s an opportunity to align your offer with their New Year’s aspirations.
Why You Don’t Need Discounts to Sell More
Discounts often eat into your profits and can condition customers to expect lower prices. By using this framework, you’re shifting the focus to the value your product delivers rather than its price. This positions your product as a premium solution rather than a bargain-bin deal.
When customers see the thought, care, and benefits behind your offer, they’re more likely to take action and feel great about their purchase.

Creating an irresistible offer doesn’t mean slashing prices or devaluing your products. Instead, it’s about presenting your product in a way that feels like a must-have for your customers. Here’s the step-by-step framework:
1. Promise
Clearly state the outcome your product will deliver. Focus on the emotional transformation it will provide. How will your product make your customer’s life easier, happier, or more fulfilling? Be specific and compelling.
Example: Instead of saying, “Buy this planner,” say, “This planner will help you stay organised and stress-free so you can achieve your biggest goals in 2024.”
2. Process
Outline the steps your customer needs to take to achieve the promised result. Make it simple and actionable. This shows customers exactly how they’ll benefit from using your product.
Example: “Just open your planner, write down three daily goals, and watch your productivity soar!”
3. Price
Price your product based on the value it delivers, not based on competing with others. Use price anchoring to highlight the value of your offer by comparing it to something more expensive.
Example: “For just £49, you’ll receive the same strategies top entrepreneurs pay hundreds for.”
4. Value Add
Enhance your offer with meaningful bonuses that make your product even more appealing. These should be low-cost to you but high-value to your customers, such as a downloadable guide, free samples, or exclusive access to an event.
Example: “Get a free guide to maximising your planner’s potential with every purchase.”
5. Risk Reversal
Eliminate the fear of purchasing by offering guarantees or warranties. Make these highly visible on your product pages or marketing materials.
Example: “Love it or return it within 30 days for a full refund.”
6. Scarcity & Urgency
Create a reason for your customer to act now by emphasising limited availability or time-sensitive bonuses. Be honest and ethical—false scarcity can damage trust.
Example: “Only 50 planners left in stock” or “Order by Friday to receive a free bonus guide.”
7. Storytelling
Incorporate stories and testimonials to build trust and show real-life success. Highlight how your product has positively impacted others.
Example: “Sarah used this planner to organise her busy life as a mum and entrepreneur, and within three months, she doubled her productivity.”
